A review on bobbi brown beauty rules. I cannot explain enough how bad bad bad this book is. Its a real shame as other than a few slip ups, bobbi brown beauty manual wasn’t that bad – in fact i quite like it 
So this book was a real shame 
HOWEVER – books i do like Scott Barnes – About Face (i’ll be reviewing) but great book. Still needs some editing! Rae Morris – Makeup The Ultimate Guide (which is so good that its being used in some makeup schools as a text book!) Robert Jones – All his books because apart from the photoshopped faces!!!!! his skill is much more about beautiful makeup and less about extremes. Kevyn Aucoin – most of this books are very good but his final book about his life is just lovely and i read it all the time.
Thanks for the honest review. That really is shockingly shoddy editing and whoever edited that needs to get a new job, seriously.

i can’t believe how inadequate the contents of this book seem! i’m opposed to her stating that there are makeup “rules” in the first place and then the fact that she doesn’t even follow them properly herself is ridiculous. i do for sure want to check out the other books you listed though 
I love Bobbi Brown cosmetics. I started with her.
Her skin care is easy to ignore, but many of her glamor items are superb.
But – your honesty is so refreshing.
Her company is owned by Estee Lauder (along with Aveda, Mac) since 1995, and although I admire any person who can start a business, get it going and then sell it! for Big Bucks, your observations show some real weakness in her brand.
I love that you have not sold out.

Of course Ms Brown does not match foundation to skin because then she could not sell us BRONZER!! That is why going to a makeup counter is soo disastrous because they just want to sell you products not make you look pretty

ok check out the video on the BB website Pretty Powerful: Danielle. They show before and after and the image is so photoshopped. She has her excess forehead hair removed in the after pic….It’s a sham!!!! And the girl called Kim looks exactly the same before makeup wise as she did afterwards. Booo Bobbi Brown!!
Bobbi Brown makes some nice products but not everyone is yellow toned….
The foundation pic at 5.00 has to be a joke??!

OMG I got the makeup manual and I knew something wasn’t right. Won’t waste my money. Have you read Francois Nars? Was thinking about purchasing that and Sam Fine even though that is quiet dated now
U r absolutely right, that book is a big waste of time and expense. Apparently she was not thinking of the quality of the book and just the profits from ripping people off.
