Beauty Is An Ugly Organization

I did some photos a even though back about self-preservation and about trying preserve our selves for as lengthy as we can and to try stay as youthful looking as possible. I\’m not adverse to the thought or in denial about ageing but I acknowledge and accept that I too am going to grow old one day and there isn\’t a factor I can do about. All I can do is take care of myself. I would by no means, even so, resort to such extremes such as plastic surgery.
This lead me to “beauty is an ugly business”.
Quite some time ago, Dove launched a “Campaign for Real Beauty” in which the they challenge the unrealistic images of ladies in advertising. You can watch that ad here even though I\’m certain quite a few of you have already seen it. I loved the concept of the ad and it was well executed.
I do believe there was some contradiction about the whole campaign where “the actual objective of the campaign was to convince ladies to buy “Dove Firming”: a product designed to reduce the appearance of cellulite in two weeks”
I\’m no feminist, but I feel that ladies have a lot of pressure of society about what beauty is, and they end up doing ridiculous things to try match the images they see in magazines – particularly young girls – when the reality is, they will never look that way since it\’s all pc generated. I\’m not against issues like a small bit of make-up or shaving my legs but it bothers me when these issues get taken too far. I feel a bit like a victim when shop due to the fact all my “beauty” items now price a fortune and there are so numerous issues that are “expected” to be completed as a women.
I think the topic runs fairly deep. I read an article written by Jackie Esmonde in which I quoted a few lines. You can read it here. She raises a number of issues, which all who are reading it, can read it subjectively.
And if you have daughters, here\’s a excellent piece of guidance

Pop music hadn\’t seen anything like it because the heyday of Cat Stevens. But Beam\’s songs — sincere folk churners full of backwoods beauty and subtle psychedelia — had a weird magic all their own.
