Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner Training

nlp
by Yarnspider

Neuro-linguistic programming, often abbreviated to NLP, was founded in the 1970′s as a different method by which to treat those in need of any number of psychotherapies. It is still performed today and attempts to help people gain a sense of self-awareness and communication skills that will benefit their state of mind. For anyone attempting to obtain an NLP certificate, they can choose from many different programs offered by various institutes.

There is no set governing body for NLP practice either nationally or internationally. There is therefore some differentiation among certification programs provided by various institutes. All of the programs seek to achieve the same goal of NLP’s founders, however, so the programs will provide somewhat similar course studies. That is not to say that all of the courses are identical, because standards have changed out significantly as more and more practitioners develop their own methods and teaching styles. Most individuals are trained in NLP by attending a seminar or workshop of variable lengths. For example, in Europe, training may last from as little as 2-3 days to a program of nearly nine months.

For those seeking to become a master nlp practitioner, the program will likely require more extensive training. In order to attain this status, the trainee will be required to not only master the techniques of basic NLP therapy, but they will need to show that they have the ability to create new methods and ideas to use toward further NLP development. A master nlp practitioner must be able to help people while empowering them. The idea is to teach people new ways of coping and feeling good about themselves while having them believe they are responsible for curing themselves. This requires a great deal of charisma, something that is not necessarily teachable.

Some people do not intend on becoming a life coach or master practitioner and simply want to set people on the correct path toward helping themselves. For basic certification, one can expect to spend a few days to a couple of weeks in a workshop. Some of them are all day sessions with optional sessions available in the evenings. Again, there are sure to be programs of varying lengths and methodology, but many will use techniques approved by the Society of NLP. Once someone has completed the program, he or she is a certified NLP Practitioner and Motivational Coach.

NLP practitioners can go on to become a life coach or a master NLP practitioner. Once the basic course of study is completed, they will receive their certification. From there, many NLP options are available.

NLP Courses – Be an NLP Practitioner

nlp
by Yarnspider

One course level that you can enroll in is the practitioner level. The practitioner level is all about the practical aspects of NLP training courses. NLP or Neuro-Linguistic Programming is the study of human excellence.

NLP was created by John Grinder and Richard Bandler in the 1970′s, and since then NLP has been developed and evolved as a highly used methodology for studying behavioral patterns of people who have created positive and effective results in their lives.

NLP has developed methods used in education, health, business and therapy. This is considered as a highly practical approach in studying human behavior patterns. It focuses on how to re-program one’s life and create to as to what the person desires to be. In this nlp training, one would learn skills that could be used for personal success or tools to help others achieve their dreams.

One would learn skills that would serve as the foundation of all goals in his life, starting with the roots of human comprehension and actions. This would now open reasons and processes that meet the causes of behavior. With NLP courses, one would learn the core of the mind and its relation to behavior.

This training would deal with all NLP skills in a practical manner so real life integration of these skills would be easy. Values comprehension would also be given focus, understanding the very core of it on different levels with distinction of business and individual values.

When the NLP language is mastered, one is enabled to use it normally, such as conversational hypnosis, natural persuasion, language precision skills, identifying beliefs, influence and inspirational skills. Other areas that would be addressed are:

• Negotiation skills
• Overcoming Negativity
• Mutual Understanding of Beliefs
• Clearing Mental Obstacles

Being an NLP Practitioner would benefit the person himself and others as well. As far as learning goes, one could really learn much from this course, at the same time giving himself the chance to be developed positively. Methods used are proven, carefully studied and taught at a high rate of effectiveness. However, proper selection of predominant models are needed to ensure optimal learning and compatibility with the course, eliminating any unnecessary techniques being used that would have the learning process lengthen without efficient learning rather than having a short, powerful learning period.

Before taking the practitioner course, you first have to finish the diploma level. You cannot go directly to the practitioner level without finishing the diploma level because the bottom rung of the NLP training courses will give you a chance to familiarize yourself with the different options that you have in NLP.

Become A Trained Nlp Practitioner

nlp
by pabojon

NLP stands for Neuro Linguistic Program, it was originally founded in the 1970s as a form of psychological therapy and counseling. In the past, it had a little support from the scientific community, but now many people believe in NLP, and wish to become trained NLP practitioners. It is now a lucrative industry, with many self-help workshops, seminars, audio tapes, and books being introduced every month for all types of issues.

An NLP Practitioner is a person certified by law to practice NLP therapy. Nowadays, being an nlp practitioner has a good career path. There is a great demand for NLP Practitioners all over the world, and make good money. By being an expert in this field, you will be able help others, as well as apply the techniques yourself to be better at communicating with people, and convincing them.

One has to study many different areas of NLP while training to be a Practitioner. Every area i.e. neurology, language, and programming has to be studied in order to get a complete understanding. You will be taught the effective ways to build rapport with different kinds of people, and be able to connect to people on a higher level.

It is important to realize the importance of language, and the words we use, and their impact on the behavior of different people. There are certain strategies, and plans that one can follow for different issues and an nlp practitioner must be expert in all of them.

Many institutes and academies offer NLP training courses for different lengths of time. Duration of courses can range from seven days to twenty-four days, depending on how many credit hours you take every day. Foundation courses usually take two to four days, and build on the basics.

The Association of NLP, which is a UK based non-profit organisation promoting NLP, recommends 125 “contact hours” with an NLP Trainer, spread over 20 plus days, to become an NLP Practitioner. According to the Association of NLP, this is a reasonable time to cover all the aspects of the syllabus.

Some organizations offer online trainings, as well as CDs or audiotapes, on NLP to get you acquainted with the subject. Although it can be used as additional material, it is important to work with a trainer in person. NLP is an area that is more practical than theoretical, and builds on experience.

Realities of Short NLP “Accelerated” Practitioner Programs

nlp
by maailmaparim

Over the years, I have many well-meaning individuals coming up to me and asking why I do not conduct the SHORT 7-day NLP “accelerated” practitioner certification course like so many other training organizations that are springing up in Singapore and Asia.

Well, here are the realities of the 7-day “accelerated” practitioner course:

Myth 1: “Accelerated learning technology” is used so that you can be certified in a 7-day course!

According to Judith DeLozier (Co-Developer of NLP and one of my teachers at NLP University), “NLP is an Accelerated Learning Strategy for the detection and utilization of patterns in the world”.  These promoters of short 7-day programs are implying that NLP Trainers of the longer hours Practitioner trainings don’t utilize NLP to teach NLP!

There are many practical applications of NLP in personal development, coaching, business, leadership, and change management.  Of course, the reduction in contact time means essential components of NLP are removed; also the quality of skill acquisition is very much diminished.

Makes you wondered what you are missing, doesn’t it?

Myth 2: You can gain several certifications in a 7-day course!

A tactic used to market short trainings is to take some components of NLP, repackage them and promote them as new developments that surpass NLP.  For example, “NLP Timelining” has always been taught as part of the longer hours NLP certification program, but it’s now repackaged as a separate certification program (and taking up 1 day out of the 7 days of training).

Also, the “Milton Model” (NLP’s version of Ericksonian Hypnosis) is promoted as a separate hypnotherapy certification program – This is done using 2 days of the 7-day short program!

It’s no wonder the Singapore Medical Doctors and Psychologists were up in arms when “hypnotherapists” with only 2 days of training go about advertising their services!

Over the years, NLP Developer Robert Dilts has innovated an advanced model of NLP Timelining called the “S.C.O.R.E. Model”, but he still acknowledged that this new advancement is part of the field of NLP and did not promote it as a separate certification – Such is the hallmark of integrity.

Sadly, students of short programs do not know what they missing out.

Who really benefits from the short 7-day NLP trainings?

Running shorter programs, such NLP trainers has a lot more time to conduct more trainings in a year!

Here’s another shocker: One would of course expect the fees for such short trainings to be lower, but on the contrary, these trainers charge similar fees paid by students of the longer length comprehensive programs!

Choosing an NLP Practitioner Course

nlp
by Cantabrigensis

Business and professional people have benefited from nlp practitioner Courses. They’ve increased sales, improved their relationship with clients, stakeholders, staff and suppliers and and unlocked some of their deepest ambitions!

NLP Trainer Michael Beale has observed from his 12 years of both training and being trained, that while you can benefit from most NLP trainings, there are 6 key elements in choosing the most  worthwhile NLP Courses.

These are:

1) What you want to achieve

2) The attitude, skill and integrity of the trainer

3) Class size

4) Accreditation offered

5) Investment

6) Your personal choice

What you want to achieve

It’s important that you have an idea of what you want to achieve from your training. Having a purpose will help you get the most out of NLP and help you to find the right NLP course for you – one that will help you to get what you want. A good trainer will help you refine and develop your purpose as they work with you.

It’s best to choose two or three specific business or professional objectives and one or two more personal objectives.

It’s a very positive sign if the trainer is able to run the course to meet these objectives together with the  specific needs and aspirations of their delegates.

The attitude, skill and integrity of the trainer

Watch and listen to your potential trainer practice NLP approaches and techniques with customers and clients. Does he or she appear comfortable and achieve useful results particularly when things don’t initially go according to plan?

Another important aspect of NLP training is that you trust your trainer. Your learning will be accelerated if they put you at ease. One of the essential elements in the training relationship is that the trainer allows you to be yourself and has no problem if you hold differing beliefs to them.

Class size

Large training groups are more like a lecture and it’s easier for you to ‘hide’. Smaller training groups require more courage and openness, because you cannot ‘hide’. In addition the smaller the numbers, the greater the focus on your own agenda will be and the more potential for a powerful outcome. 1:1 training can be particularly effective if you can afford the investment.

Accreditation offered

NLP trainings are unregulated. On the whole this is a positive thing, because it means that NLP training companies are not hindered by regulation that promotes uniformity and standardization. However, it’s critical that potential clients are able to find out the calibre and quality of their trainer before commencing their training.

To ensure that you don’t end up with a poorly qualified trainer, we suggest that you look for those NLP trainers that have several  years experience and have kept their accreditation up to date with  Richard Bandler and or John Grinder, the co-creators of NLP. They’ve both developed NLP significantly over the past 30 years and recently continued to make it more effective than many less effective practitioners and trainers.

Investment

Professional training is measured by the quality of the course content and the skill of the trainer. You need to know in advance whether you want to buy training on the basis of ‘quality’ or ‘price’. Buying on price alone is fine, but don’t expect the quality of training to be in the same league as the more expensive NLP courses.

Your personal Choice

NLP Practitioner Courses are about your development. Speak to potential trainers in advance about what you wish to achieve. The focus should be on you and not the trainer, or infact about NLP itself. NLP is an enabler to help you achieve what’s important to you.

In addition speak to bosses, friends, colleagues, but also feel able to ignore their recommendation if it doesn’t seem to suit what you want to achieve.

Good NLP leads to both personal power and personal freedom. Chose a trainers and practitioner training course that you genuinely think and feel that will help you achieve them.
